Pickens County Government has a job opening for a Building Maintenance Worker.

Pay – $16.83 per hour.

The Building Maintenance Worker will participate in the maintenance of county-owned buildings and facilities.

MAJOR DUTIES

The following duties are typical for this position. The omission of specific statements of the duties does not exclude them from the classification if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment for this classification. Other duties may be required and assigned.

  • Assists or performs maintenance and repair work on county buildings, facilities, and related systems, including construction, remodeling, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, grounds maintenance, custodial, and general repair/maintenance projects.
  • Ensures departmental compliance with all applicable codes, laws, rules, and regulations;
  • Ensures adherence to safety procedures;
  • Monitors work environment and use of safety equipment.
  • Assists or performs mechanical maintenance projects, including installing, maintaining, and repairing HVAC systems.
  • Assists or performs plumbing projects, including installing, maintaining, and repairing various plumbing systems.
  • Assists or performs electrical projects, including installing, maintaining, and repairing various electrical systems and components.
  • Assists or performs ground maintenance functions.
  • Assists or performs custodial maintenance of buildings and facilities.
  • Performs related duties.
  • The ability to operate in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.

KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED BY THE POSITION

  • Knowledge of the practices, processes, materials, and equipment used to maintain, repair, construct, and improve public buildings and grounds.
  • Knowledge of plumbing, electrical, mechanical, and HVAC system maintenance and repair.
  • Knowledge of county and department policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of safe work principles.
  • Skill in problem-solving.
  • Skill in prioritizing and planning.
  • Skill in interpersonal relations.
  • Skill in operating computers and job-related software programs.
  • Skill in reading, understanding, and interpreting plans, blueprints, schematics, and construction drawings.
  • Skill in oral and written communication.

Pickens County employees begin to accrue vacation and sick leave upon hire. Medical, Dental, Vision and other voluntary insurances are available the first of the month after 30 days of employment. Pickens County also offers a Defined Contribution 401(a) Retirement Plan.
